So, I leave for new york tomorrow. Then down to Orlando to visit parents. I fly out of the country on the 18th.

Moving long distance is a series of integer actions. There is no inbetween. A task is either done or not done. In some ways you could consider it digital. An object is either going or not going. The room is either clean or not clean. The detritus of approximation is maintenance and I have grown a cancerous amount of stupid useless crap which has followed me around.

I split everything I owned into three categories. Taking, selling, or garbage. It was somewhat frightening how quickly selling mutated into garbage. And even more strange was that each of the categories was roughly equal in space though appropriately disproportionate in nostalgia. The real panic/realization set in however at approximately two in the morning the day the movers were coming...a premonition if you will that I don't actually want even HALF the stuff that will arrive in OZ at a later date.

My belongings will take quite a while to get through customs and quarantine. During that time I will be living a gloriously simplified lifestyle. It will have very zen qualities I imagine. Envision me eating dinner at a table. One set of utensils, one plate, one glass. Quiet contemplation as I eat. Silence. The doorbell will ring and be followed by an ominous silence. A sense of dread will come into being like dropping a pair of shoes onto the floor, loud and decisive. I'll turn to look and the door will explosively fly open and boxes of crap will start pouring and tumbling through. There will be a bulldozer grunting and shoving tons of giant cardboard marshmallows into my apartment. I'll be buried alive in a brown paper artistic reenactment of pompeii. After digging myself out of the rubble and sorting the wreckage I will take on a new role of American Ambassador of Goodwill by donating cubic yards of shite I should never have transferred to australia. My only reconcilliation is the fact that Australia is the only continent that doesn't create more topsoil through erosion and is reliant on its importation. Consider my belongings a contribution to land mass through indirect means. That part of the planet will at least weigh slightly more even if it doesnt alter the earths orbit and rotation.

Here I come AU.
