Pain.
Every once in a while, when I am not in a relationship. I get this terrible pang. Loneliness wrapped in despair sprinkled with pity, loathing and self doubt. Sometimes it's triggered by seeing a happy couple. Sometimes just seeing an incredibly attractive person who has qualities that I enjoy. Today it was a friend of a coworker. Her lilting voice really got to me.
So yeah. Today is a painful day.

Happy Halloween
The secretary is dressed up like an angel. I have seen one other costume so far...a guy wearing some impressively natural looking devil horns. They totally fit his look/personality.
I really just can't seem to get into halloween and costumes. I think it lost its gloss when I stopped digging candy.
It's cold out and I feel static clingy...it makes me grumpy.

The date.
So, Sue invited me to check out Improv Boston on our date. The first show was extremely experimental, and by experimental I actually mean appallingly bad. I applaud their effort though I shun the result. Three people dressed in context displaced costumes stomp around on stage alternately moaning and yelling "What does he see in her?!" and "Stop beating me."; not good. What followed after that was a painfully long stream of conciousness that explored the depths of their own panic on stage and their morbid inability to create a direction. It did take a lot of guts to get up there and die on stage for an hour, though it did have a couple moments, and I hope that they learned from it.
The second event was Theatre Sports. That was actually quite good! Three teams competed, much like "Who's Line is it?" I was the inspiration for two of the skits. When they asked for a movie name I gave them "Robot Doom!" The old old school comedy troop did an incredible interpretation of it complete with "closeup on mad scientist laughing maniacally." The other skit was to be inspired by a word from the audience. This was particularly disturbing for me as the guy gave no warning, seemed to be looking out into the audience, searching...and then points at me. I totally blanked. I couldn't think of anything. I gestured wildly in silence and couldn't say ANYTHING (a part of me seemed to decide that that was a good idea.) So, thusly the inspiration was "silence." The first group took silence and went really far with it. The entire thing was done in total silence. The next group only started out with silence and it degenerated into much less demanding and witty interpretation. I still don't know why the audience voted for them instead.
All said, I would recommend checking out Theatre Sports. Very amusing.
As for Sue. I doubt I will see her again. I left it open socially, but not romantically. Being a theatre person I doubt the rejection will sit well and encourage platonic visitation.
