Deluge in Boston after Found Footage Festival

The drive home in the rain really really sucked at points. If the rain itself wasn't enough of a threat to accurate driving then the people who really can't drive normally during good weather made it that much worse!!!
Fast forward, I am pulling down the penultimate street to where I live and a cop pulls me over. I go over in my head all the things I could possibly have done. Speeding, no. Ran stoplight/sign, no. Wreckless driving, no way. (mind flashing over all the accidents we had seen.)
He comes up to the window in the pouring rain looking none too happy to be wet and explains that my insurance has defaulted due to non payment! WTF! I explain that I paid a year in advance and have received no notification of expiration and that this is really a mistake. He says, sorry too but my car has to be towed to the impound lot and that he has to seize my plates! I very patiently explain that I live about a hundred yards from where we are and he agrees to follow me to my house and seize the plates. So he can't get the plates off. He calls a tow truck to bring a tool to remove them. The plates have to be cut off because of the rusted bolts. So the truck leaves. I try to start my car to take it home and it won't start. The tow truck has to be called back and get towed anyway because now it freaking won't start!
My car is currently sitting at Hogan Tire of Westwood without any
license plates on it.
But hey, it gets even better than this. The cop explains to me that driving without registration and plates is a criminal offense and that I have to go to court! There's no friendly fine to pay so that they will leave me alone...I have to appear in court!

Breakin the law, breakin the law!
